Railway Budget 2015 Highlights: Railway Budget also referred as Rail Budget is the Annual Financial Statement of the state-owned Indian Railways, which handles rail transport in India. It is presented every year by the Minister of Railways, representing the Ministry of Railways, in the parliament. Indian Railways is an Indian state-owned enterprise, owned and operated by the Government of India through the Ministry of Railways. It is one of the world’s largest railway networks comprising 115,000 km (71,000 mi) of track over a route of 65,436 km (40,660 mi) and 7,172 stations. It incurs a profit of Rs. 1.4 Lakh crore every year. Railway Budget 2015 Highlights are given below.

Out of 676 sanctioned projects only 317 were completed in the last three years. Rs 1.82 lakh crore is required to complete pending projects. Around 13 Lakh employees were working in railways.
