Red Sander Smuggler Gangi Reddy Brought To Hyderabad

Red sanders smuggler Kollam Gangi Reddy was brought from Mauritius to Hyderabad by a team of police officers led by the Additional Director-General of Andhra CID Ch. Dwaraka Tirumala Rao on Sunday.

It is said that Gangi Reddy was close to Congress politicians and some babus during the tenure of former Chief Minister late YS Rajasekhara Reddy. Andhra Pradesh DGP J.V. Ramudu presented Gangi Reddy before the media at Hyderabad.

Red sanders smuggler Gangi Reddy was arrested by Interpol officials at Mauritius in February this year, on a red corner notice issued on a warrant issued by Dhone magistrate court after he jumped the bail for not complying with bail conditions, which he obtained from Andhra Pradesh High Court and fled from India to Dubai and from there to various countries such as Ghana, Madagascar, and Mauritius. The State Government had subsequently transferred several cases against Gangi Reddy in Kurnool and Kadapa districts to the CBI.

“Based on evidence, we will take stern action against any political leader or government official if it is found that they helped Gangi Reddy in red sanders smuggling,” said AP Director General of Police (DGP) JV Ramudu at a press conference on Sunday.

Gangi Reddy has been spending a lot of money in hiring legal luminaries of India and Mauritius to escape from the clutches of Mauritian and international law as described through various international conventions. Meanwhile, on March 2nd his passport was revoked, as he has obtained on fake identity. The 14 cases of detailed documents was forwarded to Mauritian authorities to press for his extradition. Gangi Reddy was also an accused in a case of bomb attack on chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at Alipiri in Chittoor in 2003. Two police officials from Mauritius – Dawoodarry Tirudeo and Doorbeejun Teeruthraj taken Gangi Reddy to Hyderabad on Sunday.
