Reliance Jio Now Ties With Google To Launch Affordable 4G Smart Phones

Now as it happened, Jio is already the ringmaster in the mobile network segment. But what hurts people is poor network signals to connect calls and the smartphones that are highly priced. Reliance has already made its way in coming up with the home mobiles branded ‘Lyf’. Those mobiles, however, ended up with negative reviews.

Bidding goodbye to the old ones, Reliance Jio is now working with Google to develop an affordable smartphone that will work exclusively on the Mukesh Ambani-led telco’s 4G services.

And those smartphones will be launched before the end of this year. The report said that Google branding will help Reliance Jio reach a larger market, besides ensuring deep integration of the latter’s applications into Android interface. In addition to this, both are working together on developing software for the telco smart TV services, which will be launched by the end of 2017.

It can be believed that the Google branding will help in boosting the Jio’s plans to sell cheaper 4G handsets and reach a larger market, and will also help in rooting the Jio apps to come up with prolific performances tying up with Google.

On the other side, Reliance Retail is already working with a number of Chinese ODMs to procure 4G VoLTE smartphones and pocket routers, besides Foxconn. It is sourcing these products from Chinese ODMs like ZTE, CK Telecom, Wingtech, and Tinno Mobile, ET earlier reported. In addition to this, Reliance Jio is working with Lava International and Chinese original equipment makers to manufacture VoLTE feature phones.

According to the sources, it is assumed that the mobile phones might head on to the market pricing as low as Rs 1,000. The features like unlimited voice and video calling will be included in these phones.
