Sakshi Malik’s Coach Kuldeep Malik Claims That He Still Hasn’t Received Any Cash Reward Or Promotion As Promised

Sakshi Malik, one of the athletes who won the Olympic medal (Bronze) for India was graced with many awards and rewards. Every athlete is evolved by a skilled and talented coach. Sakshi Malik’s coach is Kuldeep Malik, who works as the team coach of the national women’s freestyle wrestling team and a chief ticket inspector of Northern Railway.

There are many efforts to be kept while participating in the Olympics by both the athletes and their coaches. Even coaches had to be awarded and rewarded. Isn’t it? While Sakshi Malik is receiving lots of awards from around the country, Kuldeep Malik was unhappy as he has not been awarded any cash prize or recognition from the government, despite earlier promises.

According to the report, the Haryana government had presented Kuldeep Malik with a photocopy of a Rs 10 lakh cheque during a felicitation event in Bahadurgarh but more than a month later he is yet to get the real cheque or cash.

His attempts to get in touch with the Haryana government and the Railway Sports Promotion Board have gone in vain. Kuldeep also reportedly received a “promise of promotion” from current Railways minister Suresh Prabhu but that too was the only word of mouth.

Kuldeep Malik’s Statement:

“There may be fat cash awards and a super luxury BMW car for Sakshi but I’ve not got anything, even the promises are still to be met. I’m yet to get a penny. I’ve repeatedly followed it up for the cheque but the officials have kept on dilly-dallying,” said Kuldeep Malik.

“When I told the Railway officials about the Minister’s promise, they said that coaches were not given promotion on basis of their disciple’s success. She gives me tremendous respect whenever we meet. I’m not begging for any cash rewards but at least you should keep your promise. Everyone knows what we have achieved and I will always think that Sakshi’s bronze will remain my biggest reward,” he said.

Under Kuldeep’s guidance, Sakshi went on to win bronze at Rio. Back in 2014, she had also won the silver along with a bronze at the Asian Championship in 2015. What do you think about the government’s fail-promises? Share your views in the comments section below.
