Sanmay Ved bought Google.com for a minute, but donated his reward to charity

Sanmay Ved who was a former Google employee and now currently works for Amazon, was searching for available.com domains and bought the Google.com domain via Google’s own Domains service for only $12.

However, Sanmay Ved owned Google.com domain. Just after few minutes Ved received an order cancellation email and company realized it was a mistake and it has refunded $12 by Google.

Google rewarded the guy who bought Google.com, and he donated it all to charity

After acknowledging the problem Google rewarded Ved with some unknown amount of cash. Sanmay Ved asked Google to donate his prize money to charity. Google decided to double the amount since he planned to donate the money to charity. Sanmay Ved confirmed that the overall amount was more than of $10,000.

Google Rewarded Ved with more than $10,000. Ved, however said in an interview with Business Insider:

“I don’t care about the money. It was never about the money,” Ved told Business Insider. “I also want to set an example that it’s people who want to find bugs that it’s not always about the money.”

Sanmay Ved donated the money to The Art of Living India, an Indian foundation that educates children who were born into the slums.
