Seven More Bread Samples In India Pass FDA Test

Salim Valijee, food and administrator director revealed that none of the remaining seven bread samples are found with potassium bromate samples and a cancer-causing chemical. FDA collected 29 samples of various products to check the presence of potassium bromated out of which four bread samples tested positive to the chemical said Veljee.

He also said that the department is still analyzing four samples which are of cake and result will be given in a day or two.

There are about 18 samples received on May 31 to the laboratory whereas remaining seven bread samples are made public. The four bread sample included three sliced bread and one pizza bread that showed positive for potassium bromate.

Bread samples investigated for potassium bromated included locally made bread, as well as outside bakeries, said Veljee. Goan pao got a clear report from FDA lab as the sample is reported with potassium bromate.

CSE discovered the presence of potassium bromate in 38 samples in popular bread brands of the National capital city. Bread in Goa that had the presence of potassium bromate contains 25 parts per million manufacturers indicated the list of bread manufacturing like small bakeries, pastry shops, patisserie chains and commercial sliced bread manufacturers.
