Shocking: Watch How Bank Manager’s Speeding Car Kills Two Inside Apartment Complex

CHENNAI: A bank manager’s poor driving skills proved fatal for two persons after the speeding vehicle rammed into a group talking on the driveway of an apartment complex in Kottivakkam on ECR (East Coast Road) on Tuesday evening. Five persons including the deceased were deliberating as to how to improve the safety and security of the apartment complex (Sai Subhodaya) when the incident took place.

The driver has been identified as an executive of Bank of Maharashtra, heading Thiruvanmiyur branch operating in the apartment complex. The irate residents of the apartment later handed him over to the Thiruvanmiyur Police on Wednesday. The accident left two people dead and three others injured.

The deceased were identified as Abdul Rahim (44), new security-bureau officer of the apartment and N.K.Pyare Lal (62), secretary of Sai Subhodaya Apartment’s Residents’ Association. Three others, S.Vasudevan (63), Brindeshwar and Nalini Srinivasan (60) suffered grievous injuries. One of the victims, Abdul Rahim was dragged for a distance of 50 meters and thrown off after the vehicle came to a halt hitting the gate of apartments.

All the injured were taken to a private hospital right opposite the apartment complex, but had to be moved to another hospital as doctors were not immediately available.

Abdul Rahim and Pyare Lal succumbed to their injuries early on Wednesday. The security guard suffered grievous injuries on one of his legs while Vasudevan is also critically injured, police said.

The bank’s chief manager Venkatesh (35), had reportedly told investigators that brake failure was the reason for the accident. Police said that investigations revealed that the Venkatesh had been learning to drive very recently and he had confused the accelerator with the brake, leading to the accident.

The Police charged him under section 304A (causing death by negligence) and had been enlarged on station bail.
