Snapdeal Mobile Website Goes Multi-Lingual

India has a linguistic diversity that brings tremendous opportunity to expand the market to include those users who would prefer to engage online in their regional languages, said Rohit Bansal, co-founder of Snapdeal. The multilingual user interface has been developed by the company on the principle of the feedback it obtained from both its customers and retailers. This is the reason behind the significant move by the largest E-commerce company.

“With this, Snapdeal has expanded its reach to an additional 130 million smartphone users in India, who use the internet in regional languages, thus making digital commerce now accessible to all,” said Rohit Bansal.

Snapdeal Lets Customer to Shop in Regional Languages

“Our decision to go multi-lingual is driven by the feedback that we have received from our users,” Bansal said.

Currently, there are 22 major languages spoken in the country and in future, they will add the leftover 10 languages. Bansal said e-commerce currently shares about 1-2% of the retail market in the country and in coming 7-8 years, the percentage is expected to rise up to 10%. The company said it has also developed a grammar engine to ensure an error-free translation.

“The multilingual platform is built on top of Snaplite, Snapdeal’s website for a mobile browser, which is 85 percent lighter and consumes less bandwidth. This means that not only is it in the language of the regions, it also consumes 85 percent less bandwidth and loads in 1/4th the time of most other mobile sites,” the statement added.

You can now start shopping online in regional languages like Hindi and Telugu and very soon you will be able to shop in other regional languages apart from these three languages. Enjoy Shopping on Snapdeal in your preferred language!
