The Reason These 2 DU Girls Gave For Night Out Permission Has Left The Internet In Splits

Taking permission from hostel for night out with friends sounds simple for boys but it becomes more difficult when you are a girl. Yes, it’s not easy for an Indian girl to hang out with their friends late night as parents don’t allow them and it becomes more difficult when a girl is living in a hostel as rules of hostels are stricter than those of household.

And when it comes to college hostels which come under Delhi University are stricter than any other hostel and seeking a late night out is almost impossible.

But two girl students of Delhi University dared to ask permission to go out at night and wrote an honest letter to the warden; their ‘valid’ reason has left the Internet in splits!

Yes, two students wanted to “de-stress” themselves “a little” after having a bad experience with their dissertation presentation.

The students, who signed their name as Preeti and Aditi explained to the hostel warden that they were “stressed and disappointed” with their academic life, and needed a break. Seriously, don’t we all need one!

The picture of the letter was posted on Facebook by Pinjra Tod and this letter has become a viral thing on the Internet now. On the condition of being anonymous, the admin of Pinjra Tod told Indian Express that the permission was granted to the students.

The letter was written for the Kaveri Hostel’s warden and this hostel comes under Ambedkar University, Delhi (AUD).

Pinjra Tod posted the letter with a caption, “Now, this is how you write an ‘application’ when asked to seek ‘permission’ and give a ‘valid reason’ for ‘allowing’ you a ‘late night’!

While everyone is laughing at the innocent letter, they fail to realize that in almost every college/university in Delhi, there exists this discriminatory rule that controls and limits the mobility and experiences of women who come to study in this city.

Young women living in hostels in the city are locked up after college hours and the colleges are like cages at this point- which is why the letter is no laughing matter.

And to all those who don’t know what is Pinjra Tod. Pinjra Tod movement was started in 2015, in Jamia Millia Islamia University in order to raise voices against the sexist rules but slowly it became famous outside the college too.

The literal meaning of Pinjra Tod is “break the cage” have spread in college campuses across Delhi ever since and nearby paying guesthouses because female students are tired of having to live like caged birds.
