Shocking! Is This Bridal Shop Mannequin Actually A Preserved Human Corpse?

La Popular is a very famous bridal shop in Chihuahua, Mexico. However, it is not known for its beautiful bridal gowns, but for a mysterious lady mannequin that has “lived” there for over 85 years. She even has a name – La Pascualita, or Little Pascuala.

That is quite a long time for a bridal gown shop to retain a mannequin, but then the dummy has a rather strange history behind it.

In the front window of this shop stands a mannequin like no other, dressed up as if it is ready for her big day. According to local legend, she’s in no way a factory made mannequin but actually an embalmed and mummified corpse of an actual human being.

According to an urban legend, La Pascualita is, in fact, an extremely well-preserved corpse of the daughter of the shop’s original owner, Pascuala Esparza.

When the mannequin was first installed in the shop window on March 25, 1930, people were immediately taken by how human-like she looked.

She had real hair, fine expression lines on her face, and even varicose veins on her legs.

The locals noticed her resemblance to the owner’s daughter, who had recently died on her wedding day, and concluded that it was her embalmed body.

Her hands are extremely realistic, with fine lines and small hairs.

An urban legend like this isn’t complete without a few supernatural stories of its own.

Some people claim that her mesmerizing gaze seems to follow you around, like Mona Lisa, and swear that she shifts her positions by herself.

Only the owner and a few close employees are allowed to change her dress behind closed curtains.

La Pascualita began to take on a life of her own. It is said that a love-struck French magician would arrive at night and bring her to life, taking her out on the town.

Others say her eyes follow them around the store and that she changes positions during the night.

One shop worker, Sonia Burciaga, who has to change the dummy’s outfits twice a week, says:

Every time I go near Pascualita my hands break out in a sweat. Her hands are very realistic and she even has varicose veins on her legs. I believe she’s a real person.
