United Kingdom’s Daughters-An Indian Man’s Response to BBC Documentary

After the broadcast of a BBC documentary by Leslee Udwin ‘India’s Daughter’ which deals with the brutal and horrific gangrape, and murder of a 23-year-old paramedical student popularly called Nirbhaya, the world is looking at India as a ‘country of rapists’. The documentary shows the convicted rapists and murders blaming girls for the crime and defending their crime. Days after government banned the BBC documentary India’s Daughter, based on December 16 gangrape, that apparently labelled India as a ‘country of rapist’, an Indian man has released a documentary titled ‘United Kingdom’s Daughters’ that reveals the situation of rapes in western countries.

United Kingdom’s Daughters:

Now in response to Udwin’s ‘India’s Daughter‘, a documentary made by an Indian Harvinder Singh titled ‘United Kingdom’s Daughters’ reveals the situation is much worse in western nations and 250 women in the UK are raped daily.

According to the documentary ‘United Kingdom’s Daughters’, one-third of Britons believe women are responsible for rape. It also claims that killing figures are low in the UK as women do not resist rape.

Moreover, in UK not all rape survivors get justice as only 10 per cent rapists are convicted in the country, says the documentary. The documentary claims that “10 per cent of UK women said they experienced sexual victimisation.”

Pandey added, “A controversy was created unnecessarily and was sensationalised. The documentary made fun of emotions and questioned the law and order situation in our country.”
But as Harvinder Singh claims in ‘United Kingdom’s Daughters’, rape is a global phenomena and the mentality of those committing the heinous crime is the same all over the world.

According to Harvinder Singh’s documentary, 250 women in the UK are raped daily. The also documentary suggests that one-third of Britons believe women are responsible for rape, a claim made by one of the convicts Mukesh in the December 16 gangrape in the BBC documentary.
Singh’s documentary also claims that killing figures are low in the UK as women do not resist rape. Mukesh had also admitted that had the girl not fought back or resisted, they would have not killed her and just beat up her male friend who had accompanied her on the night of December 16, 2012.
