Politicians may ignore or not follow rules, but the laws of nature don’t ignore anybody, not even the law of physics. Confused?

Government leaders and the rules have become antonyms these days, thus it’s never surprising to see the politicians breaking the laws. Sometimes, violating few rules might cost you big losses. Uttar Pradesh Textile Minister Satyadev Pachauri (BJP) learned it in a rather bizarre way.

Minister Pachauri was admitted in Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences in Lucknow after he fell unconscious during a speech. He was suggested to take an MRI scan. When he was taken to take an MRI scanning room, his guard with a gun followed the minister.

Despite the instructions, the guard entered the MRI room with the loaded gun. The magnetic field of the MRI machine pulled the loaded gun on to it, damaging the machine in the process. Eventually, the machine stopped working and came to a standstill.

According to local media reports, as soon as the minister saw the pistol being pulled out and sticking to the machine, he ran away from the MRI room. The cost of repairing the 5-crore machine will come around Rs 40-50 lakh and will take at least a week to fix it. And the machine has been out of the use since past two weeks already.

The Medical Superintendent of the Hospital, Dr. Subrat Chadra said, “I will put up big notices everywhere in the hospital that people should not enter restricted areas without permission. I am not sure how the security officer managed to go in, we have launched an inquiry into it. The machine itself will take over 15 days to come back to action.”

The Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences is a super specialty government-run hospital that provides affordable medical treatment to poor. The out of order MRI machine, sources say, will affect poor the most as they can’t afford expensive private centers and very few government hospitals in Lucknow have the facility.
