UPSC Civil Services Prelims Notification 2015 Apply from 16th May

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is going to conduct Civil Service Preliminary Examination for the year 2015 on August 23rd . The Civil Services Prelims Examination 2015 as per the UPSC calendar specifies that the notification for Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination 2015 will be released on May 16th, 2015. The last date to apply for the exam form will be June 12, 2015.

The exam is conducted as a screening test for the Civil Services (Main) examination 2015 as well as the Indian Forest Services Examination 2015. The Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) is a test conducted by UPSC, in order to select the candidates for prestigious Indian Government services like IAS, IFS, IPS, etc. The candidates who qualify in the Preliminary exam can obtain for Main examination. The Prelims exam is conducted in a single day, whereas the Civil Services (Main) examination or the IAS exam is conducted over 5 days. The Mains exam in 2015 will commence on December 18, 2015.

The candidate must be the citizen of India to apply for the Indian Administrative Service & Indian Police Service.

Eligibility Criteria for Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination 2015 :

  • Candidates those who apply for the UPSC IAS exam should be an Indian citizen.
  • Citizens of Nepal and Bhutan, immigrants with Indian origin and Tibetan refugees need to submit a Certificate of Eligibility issued by the Government of India to apply for these jobs.

Age Limit for UPSE 2015 Exam :

The candidate should be minimum 21 years of age for applying and the maximum age limit to apply for the UPSC Exams is 32 years.

Educational Qualification for UPSE 2015 Exam:

  • The candidate should have a degree completed from any of the institutes established by an Act of Parliament or any University deemed by the University Grant Commission under section 3, Act, 1956.
  • The candidates with a degree from any of the recognized universities can apply for the UPSC Exams. Those who have appeared or are appearing for their qualifying exam this year may also apply.

Number of attempts for UPSE Exam :

All eligible candidates is allowed to attempt the Civil Services Examination four times.

Exam Pattern for UPSE Exam 2015:

  • Preliminary exam is divided in to 2 papers. Both papers are objective-type multiple-choice questrions and are conducted on the single day.
  • The Paper I Consists of General Studies where the time Duration is 2 hours and the Maximum Marks is 200.
  • The Paper II consists of Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) where the time Duration is 2 hours and the Maximum Marks is 200 and the blind candidates get 20 minutes of extra time to solve the paper.
  • The exam is conducted in the offline mode and candidates can only use black ball point pen to mark answers in their OMR sheet.

  • Economic and Social Development, Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector initiatives, etc.
  • General issues on Environmental Ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change.
  • General Science
  • History of India and Indian National Movement
  • Indian and World Geography (Physical, Social, Economic Geography of India and the World)
  • Indian Polity and Governance (Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights, Issues, etc.)

Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT):

  • Basic Numeracy (Numbers and their Relations, Orders of Magnitude, etc. – Class X level)
  • Comprehension
  • Data Interpretation (Charts, Graphs, Tables, Data Sufficiency etc. – Class X level)
  • Decision-making and Problem-solving
  • English Language comprehension skills (Class X level)
  • General Mental Ability
  • Interpersonal skills including communication skills
  • Logical Reasoning and Analytical Ability
