NEWS:

  • Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa passed away due to sudden cardiac arrest, she is well known for her astonishing schemes like ‘Cradle to baby scheme’.   • Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced the release of 20, 50 and new 100 rupee notes very soon, the upcoming 20 and 50 notes carries incumbent RBI Governer, Urjit Patel’s signature and ‘L’ sign on both panels. The statement later added the releasing of plastic notes for the long lasting validity and decreasing the chances of duplication.

  • Government’s revenue collection in ‘April-Nov’ saw indirect tax mop up growing at an impressive 26.2% , meanwhile, direct tax up to 15.12%.
  • PayTm CEO, Vijay Shekhar raised Rs 325 Crore by selling 1% of his stake in One97 Communications, its parent company.
  • Prominent private banks, Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) and Yes Bank roped in a deal with Ola cabs by providing mobile ATMs across the cities. IOB dealt with 10 cars meanwhile, Yes Bank did carry with providences in 30 cities, throughout India.

  • Coco Cola stated that its current CEO Muhtar Kent will be replaced by president James Quincey, who has been working for Coco Cola for 20 years.
  • IOC, BPCL, and HPCL signed up a deal in operating a 60 million tonnes mega Refinery Plant with IOC holding 50% of the stake and BPCL, HPCL each holding 25%.
  • Bharti Airtel announced Sunil Taladar as its new CEO & Director, DTH. Former CEO, Shashi Arora is promoted as MD & CEO for Airtel Payments Bank.

  • Indian Women’s Team bagged the Asian cup in T-20 series dismissing Pakistan aggressively. Team India scored 121 runs losing 5 wickets, meanwhile Pakistani team turned back after scoring 104/6. This victory acclaimed team India with no loss in 2016 and consecutive win in Asian trophy.

  • Team India’s ODI skipper, Virat Kohli played a historical innings against England hitting 235 runs in 4th Test Match against England.
  • The popular Basket Ball player Micheal Jordan is recognized as the highest paid athlete of all time by ‘Forbes’. Golf supremo Tiger Woods bagged the second place. It is estimated that Jordan has earned nearly $1.7 billion from 1985 (his debut), most of his earnings came from branding the popular brands like Nike.
  • Ace Indian bowler, Ravichandran Ashwin clinched 7th position with 239 wickets overtaking Jawagal Srinath after dismissing English Moeen Ali in the Fourth test.
