Why Is Salman Khan Jailed For Shooting A Mere Deer? Know The Story Here

Recently, the whole country was shocked after hearing the revolutionary judgement of Jodhpur court where Salman Khan was found guilty with Blackbuck poaching case and was charged with 5 years of imprisonment and also Rs. 10,000 fine in a 20year old case of blackbucks poaching.

After hearing this judgement there were mixed reactions from the public as some were supporting Salman while some were happy that he was found guilty. But have you ever wondered why the case was so serious about killing a blackbuck that even the superstar couldn’t escape the case?

Hunting wild animals is a crime in India while Salman’s case became even more strong as it is related to the killing of Blackbucks. They come under the category of Antilope cervicapra which is also known as Indian antelope and is commonly found in the Indian Sub-continent.

The International Union for Conservation of Nature marked this species in the category of Near Threatened (NT) as they are endangered species which might face extinction in near future.

Due to their chances of extinction, The Indian Wildlife Protection Act, 1972 made it clear that the persons who will hunt these endangered species will be punished with imprisonment for 3-7years. These species can also be found in Pakistan, Nepal and was earlier spread to Bangladesh but now they already faced extinction in Bangladesh due to increase in hunting and deforestation.

Due to the extinction of this species, the act was amended and imposed some strict rules to protect these species from illegal trade, hunting and smuggling. This is the reason behind the punishment imposed on Salman Khan for such huge time period.

The producers of Salman Khan were tensed after knowing the judgement. Salman Khan stayed in the jail for two days before getting the bail. What do you think of this case? Will Salman challenge the judgement in the high court?
