Woman In Kuwait Shoots Video Of Her Maid Falling From 7th Floor Instead Of Helping Her [WATCH VIDEO]

Ever wondered how unconcerned human beings can get, well, this video stands as a definition of cruelty. People all over the world set examples for humanity, kindness, and compassion by helping others in times of despair and hate, but some examples of people displaying the complete lack of concern and at times even cruelty shock the world from time to time.

maid falling from building

In a shocking incident, a Kuwaiti woman kept filming her maid allegedly attempting suicide instead of trying to save her life. A heartbreaking video gone viral on the internet has flashed outrage as it shows an Ethiopian housemaid in Kuwait hanging from a building and crying for help, while her employer is filming a video instead of helping her.

The Ethiopian maid, about to fall from the seventh floor of a building in a supposed suicidal attempt couldn’t gain her employer’s sympathy upon changing her mind and crying for help as her employer was too busy shooting the entire incident. According to the video and the reports, “The woman holding the camera is heard telling the hanging maid: ‘Oh crazy, come back.’ The terrified maid is seen screaming ‘hold me, hold me’, just before her hand slips and she falls down to hit the awning, which appears to soften the impact.”

Soon after the incident came to light, Kuwaiti police have detained a woman for filming her Ethiopian maid falling from the seventh floor in an apparent suicide attempt without trying to rescue her. However, the maid was fortunate enough to survive the fall as she landed on a sunblind, which reduced the impact. Paramedics rescued the maid and rushed her to the hospital where she was found to have suffered nose and ear bleeding and a broken arm.

The reason for the maid’s attempt to suicide is still not clear. However, many reports state that the maid was abused by her employer, a  probable reason for an attempt to suicide. “I wasn’t trying to commit suicide, I was trying to escape from the woman who tried to kill me,” the unnamed maid said in a video posted by Ethiopian media.

The Kuwait Society for Human Rights on Friday called on the authorities to investigate the case and refer it to court. Kuwait is home to more than 600,000 domestic helpers, a majority of them Asians. Hundreds of maids escape their employers every year over abuse, and the government has set up shelters for them. Some seek help from their embassies.
