Yesteryear’s most awaited ‘Padmaavat’ has finally made it to the big screens. The journey of this Bhansali’s directorial from being ‘Padmavati’ to Padmaavat revealed the layers of religious and communal ordeals in India. After all the prejudice ‘Karni Sena’ held for the movie even without watching it, Supreme Court backed the director and gave a nod for the release.

Well, to all those people who recklessly denied the release fearing the insensitivity in the movie, Bhansali answered them in 3D. The premiers started on 24th January, i.e; yesterday. Garnering the rave reviews from every corner of the country, we can say that Bhansali’s cast didn’t fail to impress us at any instance.

The Storyline Of Padmaavat:

Coming to the storyline, the whole movie is based on an excerpt of Rajput’s era. So, there is no way to expect twists. When the story has no prominence, it is the screenplay that steals the show. Bhansali did a good job, he delivered the utmost work from his side and just like he does in every movie, he once again presented us a larger than life show.

However, it is the climax of the movie, that won the staggering 164 minutes of it. The breathtaking music knocks just after Shahid’s demise and mind-it, it will resonate for hours even after you walk out of the theaters.

How Did The Cast Do?

Though Shahid Kapoor as Ratan Singh gave a stellar performance being the traditional Indian hero, it is Deepika Padukone’s ‘Rani Padmavati’ that the dominated every scene in which the duo is seen. Now, the real hero of the movie is Ranveer Singh who donned the monstrous Alauddin Khilji’s role.

If you ever wonder about India having a method actor like Hollywood’s ‘Jared Leto’, then do not worry, Ranveer is filling the space. Ranveer looks so comfortably in Khilji’s skin. While Shahid is the amalgam of ethics, morals and the consistent dharma follower and Deepika, the smart and gallant queen who could slay when needed and win the wars otherwise use her wits, Ranveer breaks the rules, he amends them just the way he wins.

On a brief note, Ratan Singh is the enhanced version of a noble Indian king, Rani Padmini is the valiant queen of Ratan Singh, who is headstrong and amazingly stubborn in terms of virtues. Now, here comes the Alauddin Khilji, who slays everybody, including the fans, with his boundless screen presence.

Flaws:

When someone questions you about your most favorite scene from the movie, all you can do is simply answer quickly. Well, we wished for something better, we thought that we had to answer such question after taking a minute or more (time is taken to pick one from many). Maybe our expectations were too high and Bhansali was just as good as he was during Bajirao.

There is no war scene. Roger that. There is none. After all the things we saw in the movie, least we could expect is a massive combat, which actually ended up in ‘sandstorm’ (Bhansali’s way of packing up the scene which only those who saw the movie can understand). At least, a bloody brutal fight was expected in the end, but, Ranveer wins it all otherwise.

Except Ghoomar and Arijit’s ‘Binte Dil’, no other song managed to glue us to our seats, it is generally said that Bhansali’s numbers were slow-poison, well, if it is so, then there’s no judgment in this case, and we leave it to the time. However, Ranveer does it really spell-bound in ‘Khalibali’ from which you can’t take your eyes off, he is the savior of this one.
