Vasuki/ Puthiya Niyamam is a multilingual film released today i.e; 28th July 2017 in both Telugu & Malayalam. The film starring Nayathara and Mammootty in the lead roles released today. The movie is a family drama with a tagline “Law Against Rape”. Vaskui is directed by A K Sajan with S R Mohan as producer.

The movie also stars Baby Ananya , Sheelu Abraham, Rachana, Narayanankutty,  S. N. Swamy,  Roshan Mathew, Aju Varghese, Sadiq,  Sreelatha Namboothiri, Sohan Seenulal,  Pradeep Kottayam, Jennifer Antony, Aniyappan, Anil K Reji in supporting roles. Vasuki Storyline:

The movie is about the life of family court lawyer Adv. Louis Pothen and his wife and dancer Vasuki. Louis Pothen (Mammootty) is an advocate, clay artist and film critic rolled into one and is blessed with a lovely family that comprises of his wife Vasuki (Nayantara) and daughter. Vasuki, a Kathakali artiste b y profession.

Louis Pothan (Mammootty) who can crack a joke at any situation and can laugh at himself too. He even compares his wisecrack with actor Sreenivasan’s. However, Vasuki’s nature is exactly opposite her husband’s; she is always brooding, agitated and paranoid. She blasts the caretaker of Chintha’s school bus for touching her the wrong way and makes Louis buy a new car just to drop and pick up Chintha from school. We are also given to understand that the changes in her nature are recent and that she was also a fun loving and jovial lady once.

The real reason for our lady’s change of heart is revealed. She had been a victim of a gruesome gang rape at the hands of drugged youngsters. The film goes on show how this housewife wrecks revenge on the perpetrators of the heinous crime with the help of the newly appointed Commissioner of Police (Sheelu Abraham, who looks and acts as if she is a wannabe Lena), a staunch feminist, who goes to town claiming that she would wipe out drug addicts and other criminals from the face of the city. She even gets an exclusive phone connection to be in touch with Vasuki until she accomplishes her mission.

Puthiya Niyamam/ Vasuki is the story about the dire issue that many women in the state find themselves face to face with, and with a bit more of a watchful scripting could have made a captivating film.

Vasuki Review & Rating:

Nayanatara performance is the highlight of the film. Gopi Sunder disappoints with a background score that sounds all over the place. Mammootty excels as Louis Pothen, and makes do for a mostly unhappening role with his finishing performance. Sheelu Abraham and Rachana Narayanankutty compete with each other to grab the hamming honours.
