Over 69 Butterfly Species Recorded At Delhi NCR By Bombay Natural History Society Researchers

Now, after going through many discoveries regarding the new species of Whales and snakes, new specimens of butterflies are discovered and this being has left everyone amazed as they were recorded in India’s capital New Delhi.

The research is done by the 15 teams from Bombay Natural History Society, this really is a delightful news for the Butterfly lovers and lepidopterists. Sources from the teams claim that over 69 new species are recorded in the NCR. The results were announced on Saturday in an event which also saw butterfly enthusiasts submit the names of four butterflies, authorities declared that one of the newly-found butterflies will be celebrated as the state’s butterfly.

With the esteemed equipment which includes checklists, cameras and other gadgets that helps in recording the sounds, hundreds of researchers formed the organized teams and participated in the activity. They carried checklist and cameras in their hands, this happened on Sunday and people are seen curious to take part in the first ever butterfly count for Delhi.

The event is led by the conservation education center (city wing of Bombay Natural History Society), the census was part of the butterfly month which aimed to provide an accurate and updated list of butterfly species found in the region.

Chocolate Pansy, Indian red flash, red pierrot, chocolate pansy, African babul, psyche and painted lady are among the rare and uncommon butterflies which were sighted after several years.
