NASA has announced the discovery of a new planet on Thursday. The artificial intelligence also aided in finding the new planet.

According to the data from Kepler space telescope in 2009, there are about 2,500 exoplanets found. Recently the planet that is similar to earth size is found orbiting Kepler-80. The new exoplanet adds to the Kepler 90 system in our solar system for a number of planets.

“Just as we expected, there are exciting discoveries lurking in our archived Kepler data, waiting for the right tool or technology to unearth them”, said Paul Hertz, director of NASA’s Astrophysics Division in Washington.

The Kepler is a telescope dedicated to searching the planets around other stars. NASA renamed the mission as K2 and discovered 184 exoplanets before the recent announcement.

“This finding shows that our data will be a treasure trove available to innovative researchers for years to come,” said Paul.

“Machine learning really shines in situations where there is so much data that human can’t search it for themselves,” Google researcher Christopher Shallue said.

NASA discovered the new planet comes with the artificial intelligence support. Kepler-90i completes one orbit every 14.4 earth days. It is too hot to host the life there on the planet. It is estimated that there is about 800 Fahrenheit degrees.
