Arjun Tendulkar Not Yet Ready To Play Mumbai T20 League And Pulls Out Of Himself

For a person of Sachin Tendulkar’s stature, people always lay their eyes of the successors. Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar has certainly raised the bars of cricket by achieving some impossible records in all the International formats of cricket. He was/is and still be the role model for many cricketers in the world.

Starting exclusively from a couple of years, his son Arjun Tendulkar is on news all the way since then. It is his entry into cricket that roped him into the limelight. To be fair his left arm medium pace also speaks immensely about his abilities but just like every other star kid- he too is in the limelight not in the way they appreciate it.

One must understand that if it was about power, Arjun would have been in the Indian Team by now but Sachin would be the first one to advise him against using his name and we are glad that Arjun is following his father’s footsteps of determination and hard work to reach his goal.

Last year, he hogged the headlines when he took back to back wickets for his team and led to winning the games. The cricketer was set to take part in the inaugural season of the Mumbai T20 league, however, has ruled himself out of the event. Arjun is now looking forward to remodeling his action owing to which he has taken the decision.

It’s a decision that the 18-year-old has taken after consulting his father, who, it’s learned, was on the same page on the issue. “His body has grown very quickly in the last couple of years – you can see the difference in his growth almost every couple of months, and perhaps as a result of that, has suffered two back-to-back stress fractures, which saw him ruled out for almost a year.

His last competitive game was on January 27. Since then he is progressing well. We just want to complete the whole process. At that time, we did not know that this [T20 Mumbai League] would come up. He has now gone a long way into it [remodeling his action],” a source was quoted.

Each and every ball of his is monitored by his coach Atul Gaikwad, who has been working closely on his bowling action, said a source close to Tendulkar. The reason behind Arjun skipping the tournament was also revealed.

“From January 8, Arjun has been working on his bowling action. Right now, he’s at a stage where he’s looking to remodel his action. He was slightly confused that would he have bowled with a new action or stick to the old one, if he had played, and consulted his father about it. He felt that it would be too soon to bowl with a remodeled action because he hadn’t even started bowling properly (with the new action),” said the source.

“Tendulkar advised that if he wasn’t ready to compete, then he shouldn’t play in the league. The batting great felt that the tournament was a stage for him to perform, and not rectify his action. For him, it was important that Arjun takes one step at a time, and plays only when he’s confident about his new action. Arjun is, after all, just 18, and has a long way to go,” the source concluded.

Not so long but Arjun is likely to return to competitive cricket from April. The Mumbai T20 league will begin from March 11 at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Sachin Tendulkar has recently inaugurated the tournament and has been crowned as the brand ambassador.
