After the immense success of the series against Australia, team India lost the opening ODI against New Zealand by six wickets at Wankhede Stadium on Sunday. Ross Taylor and Tom Latham put up a 200 run partnership for the 4th wicket to register the victory for their side, making them 1-0 ahead in the three-match ODI series.

However, the hosts fought back in the 2nd ODI and managed to level the series 1-1. Now, both the teams are under pressure as the third ODI is turned out to be the decider in the 3-match ODI series. When the 2nd ODI was about to start, there had been a problem regarding the MCA ground curator that he was involved in the pitch-scandal case.

However, the curator was sacked and the investigation took off immediately. And now, ahead of the 3rd and final ODI at Kanpur, the chief of BCCI’s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) Neeraj Kumar was sacked by the Supreme Court appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) on Friday.

He was said he will no longer work as the chief of the unit after December 31, 2017. However, it was also reported that Neeraj Kumar was helpless as his requirements regarding the need to upgrade the system was ignored by the Indian board.

International Cricket Council (ICC) is also investigating the matter now but the loopholes in the system have raised many eyebrows. Ramesh Mhamunkar, who was the BCCI appointed observer for the game is also likely to be questioned now as he didn’t raise an objection when the reporter was entering the ground.

As the third and final ODI of the series is held at Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) is leaving no stone unturned in its preparations for the game. Thus, the security near the pitch has been increased and it has been strictly ordered that no outsider should be allowed to approach the wicket.

“There was never any such instructions before in my long association with the Green Park. Every groundsman who is involved on daily basis with pitch preparation can predict how many runs are going to be scored. What is the big deal? Any hostel boy (pointing at sports hostel nearby) can tell you about the score in the next game,” the Kanpur security guard was quoted.
