Gautam Gambhir Thanks BCCI For His Second Lease Of Life With The Indian Team

Veteran Indian batsman Gautam Gambhir has finally got a call from the BCCI to play in the on-going Test series against New Zealand. Indian opener KL Rahul was injured during the first Test. As he is unable to recover soon, BCCI called up Gautam Gambhir to replace him.

It has been almost two years since Gautam Gambhir played his last Test for the National Team. In 2014 at Oval, Gambhir simply had no chance against the vicious swing of James Anderson and Stuart Broad. He was then dropped from the team.

Since then, Gambhir was proving himself in every match he was playing in first class cricket. He led the India Blue in the recently concluded Duleep Trophy, a tournament that his side won. Gambhir was now again given another chance to prove his skills and hoping a good comeback.

Team India is in full swing and form to clinch the Test series. Although Gambhir is an addition to the side, it is said that team India will continue with Shikhar Dhawan in the opening slot for India. Hence, we have to wait and see what happens. Whether Gambhir will be given the spot in playing XI of not?

However, it was good news for Gautam Gambhir and his fans as well. Gambhir took to Twitter to thank the BCCI for his new lease of life.

India will take on New Zealand in the second Test at the Eden Gardens that starts from the 30th of September.
