Jasprit Bumrah Stunning-Efforts At The Boundary-Line Goes In Vain As Per New ICC Rules

Indian cricket team is currently in high swing. From the very beginning of the series against the Proteas, Indian cricketers are proving their best in the limited overs. Though we lost the test series, we revoked the winning streak with the absolute best in the Limited overs. The same is now going on with the T20 series.

Team India has once again proved that it is the unprecedented champions in the limited overs cricket with the amazing win against South Africa in the first T20 international. While India bagged a mammoth 205 losing 5 wickets, Proteas managed to hit only 175 runs in all 20 overs.

Dhawan has shined brighter with his mighty 72 of which there were 10 fours and two sixes. However, an interesting thing happened in the second innings while Proteas batsman David Miller is on strike. The major character in the scene is played by Jasprit Bumrah, and one can consider ICC new rules as the protagonist.

bumrah catch in SA series t20

We can consider Bumrah unlucky as his brilliant effort in the boundary was given as six runs by the umpires. The incident happened in the seventh over of the innings as Hardik Pandya bowled a short delivery to South African batsman David Miller, who went for the big one, only to top edge it.

It was a tad short on middle and leg, Miller went for the twist-pull, top-edge it, Bumrah got himself into a perfect position and lobbed the ball back into the field of play that many assumed was good enough to save the maximum but the umpire went upstairs before signaling six. This came as a surprise to many. Watch the video here:

Now, the replays clearly showed that Bumrah’s feet had touched the boundary line before he made contact with the ball and the new law makes it clear that the fielder should not make contact with any part of the rope or the boundary line before touching the ball.

The incident didn’t go down well with the cricket lovers. But, coming to the things, it is revealed that as he had stepped on the boundary first, according to the new laws, that is six. More on the laws later.

This completely pissed off the fans.
