Watch: Australian Wicket Keeper Peter Nevil Hit On The Head With Bat In Freak Big Bash Accident

Big Bash League (BBL) is an Australian professional Twenty20 cricket league, where we can see some extraordinary cricketing skills and fantastic action exclusively. It is mainly famous and sensational for its jaw breaking moments and freaking incidents on the field.

Recently, the Melbourne Renegades’ wicketkeeper Peter Nevill was taken to the hospital after a freak incident at the Adelaide Oval where he was struck in the face by Brad Hodge’s bat.

Nevill was standing far back from the stumps when hit by a bat which slipped from the hands of the Strikers captain. He was following the path of the ball into the outfield when the bat handle struck the right side of his face.

The incident occurred in the 18th over of the Adelaide Strikers’ chase when Hodge pulled the first delivery from Thisara Perera to the leg side, but his bat slipped out of his hand.

Nevill, standing a few yards back, was watching the ball and didn’t see the bat coming his way until its handle hit his right cheek. He tumbled to the ground immediately and was surrounded by team-mates, the two batsmen, and the umpires as the medical staff of the two teams scurried onto the field.

He was asked to leave the field by a doctor for a concussion test. Nevill stood up after some time to leave the field with a badly swollen face and was taken to a local hospital for X-rays. Captain Aaron Finch kept wicket for the remaining 17 balls.
