BCCI To Pay Less To Ravi Shastri, Check Out Salary Details Of New Head Coach Ravi Shastri

Other than the coach and players’ disputes, there are some other issues that are tackled now. Earlier, it is heard that former coach Anil Kumble demanded the hike in salaries for both players and him. However, there are no authentic sources, but news has this.

Now, post the new selections, after Ravi Shastri is declared as the new Indian Head coach, revision in salary details is carried out, and surprising everyone, the salary of Shastri is brought down, he is now paid less than what is paid to Anil Kumble. This contract lasts for two years, until the end of World Cup 2019.

These details of the salary came out after the 4 member panel that has been selected by the BCCI has carried over the discussion in a meeting. BCCI acting president CK Khanna, CEO Rahul Johri, Committee of Administrators (CoA) member Diana Edulji are the members of the panel.

Coming to the details, reports claim that Ravi Shastri will earn Rs. 7 crore a year and as it is mentioned before, Anil Kumble demanded around 9 crores per year which would see him earn as much as a Grade A player and was considered to be too high according to the norms.

During the meeting, the committee accepted Ravi Shastri as Indian coach but denied to reveal any decision on appointing Rahul Dravid and Zaheer Khan as the overseas batting consultant and bowling coach respectively.

From the very beginning of the selection process, it is well known that skipper Virat Kohli is backing Shastri in every moment, the same is happening now and Shastri is picking the supporting staff as per his convenience with the support of Kohli. Further details on the supporting staff will be declared in the 4 member panel meeting that will be conducted on Wednesday i.e; July 19th.

Talking about the same, Vinod Rai, CoA head was quoted saying, “We will further discuss with Shastri the appointment of other coaches. We have set up a committee and they will speak to the CAC, communicate with them after talking to Shastri. The support staff has been decided in consultation with the head coach.”

“Three appointments which are core to the coaching team have been decided. But we have to consult each one of them, we have to ascertain their willingness and have to ensure that there is no conflict of interest issue, it’s only a recommendation. It’s not an appointment. A recommendation has been made and the CoA has to act on the recommendation which will be done only after consultation with the head coach.”

However, now it is clear that the whole point of confirming Dravid and Zaheer Khan will be done only after the meeting with CAC, clarified CoA. Diana Edulji and BCCI acting Secretary Amitabh Choudhary are the other members of the Committee who will also disclose the official salary details of Shastri.

India-Sri Lanka series is about to begin on July 19th, so there’s no way that Zaheer Khan and Dravid will join the team. The first match will be played on July 26.
