Ravi Shastri, Virender Sehwag And Four Others To Be Interviewed For The Head Coach Position

Back then in 2016, though many legendaries like Ravi Shastri had applied, the position was granted to the former ace bowler Anil Kumble. The story is different, a couple of names like Sehwag and Shastri are on the table. Despite the various concerns, Shastri is now the team’s favor as he already ensembles good company with skipper Virat Kohli.

Shastri, back then stated that he is going to apply for the post only if he is definitely granted with the position. Now that he applied for coach position created a buzz among people that he will the coach for the Indian team for sure! Speculations say that he will stand as the favorite person in the race after Kumble’s resignation.

Now that the coach selection process is at the end, out of the ten applicants: Ravi Shastri, Virender Sehwag, Craig McDermott, Lance Klusener, Rakesh Sharma, Lalchand Rajput, Phil Simmons, Tom Moody, Dodda Ganesh and Richard Pybus.

Only six were shortlisted for the interview and they are Sehwag, Pybus, Rajput, Shastri, Simmons, and Moody respectively. The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) has finalized that the interview will be conducted in Mumbai at 1 pm IST on Monday, July 10.

It was earlier scheduled to start at 12:30 pm but as per one of the interviewee Sachin Tendulkar’s convenience the modifications were followed and the interview is rescheduled to 8:30 am London time. Former captain Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman were the other two interviewees.

Meanwhile, a message from the BCCI has stated that the coach should be easy-going and must have friendly relations with the players, it would be great if he has sufficient experience and exposure to the current scenario. All these factors make Ravi Shastri as the team’s favorite and Sehwag, the second.

As Kumble’s resignation has left a huge impact on the Indian cricket team, possible measures are now taken in indulging with the new coach. Virat Kohli in a recent notice has mentioned that the team was not satisfied with Kumble’s ‘style of coaching’. 

It is assured that the coach once selected now cannot be changed until the end of upcoming 2019 world cup. Considering all these factors, proper facts are taken into account. Sources claim that the results will be unveiled by Monday morning.
