After the undisputed dominance against Sri Lankans in 3-match Test series, team India locked horns with the Lions in the limited-over format with the first ODI at Dambulla on Sunday. The Men in blue were clear favorites going into the match. Virat Kohli won the toss and invited the hosts to bat first.

It seemed that Sri Lankans did not learn anything from their Test series they lost 3-0. Though the openers got off to a brilliant start, they were restricted for 216/10 from 139/1. The Indian bowlers ripped the Sri Lankan batsmen apart like a pod of peas.

The visitors came on to chase the target as Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma began the proceedings. The duo was seen involved in a mix-up during Lasith Malinga over. On the first delivery of the 5th over, Dhawan and Rohit fumbled as they tried to steal a run.

Rohit played the delivery straight past the bowler Malinga as mid-on covered it. As the Indian batsmen hesitated to make a decision about going for the run, there was confusion in the middle with both batsmen waiting in the middle.

Though they went for the run and got it with ease, it was a hilarious moment to see up there from the dressing room and captain Virat Kohli had a good time watching it.

Rohit (4) was eventually dismissed on the last delivery of that over as when his bat came off his hands and he failed to reach the crease on time. In his last nine innings against Sri Lanka, Rohit has not scored in double digits. However, Dhawan’s century and Kohli’s fifty cruised India to a 1-0 lead against Sri Lanka in the 5-match ODI series.

This was not the first time one has seen Kohli laughing out loud. During the Australia series, Ishant Sharma mocking Steven Smith also left the skipper in splits. Ravindra Jadeja’s sword celebration during the New Zealand series saw Kohli laughing and imitating the Saurashtra batsmen from the dressing room.
