‘Virender Sehwag Has More Chances To Be The Head Coach Than Ravi Shastri’ Opines CAC

Selections are on the roll, the whole cricket fraternity is eagerly waiting for the declaration of the new head coach. It is strange to hear some surprising news at the verge of such a crucial deed. Sources from Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) has now opined that Virender Sehwag has more chances to ascend the Head Coach position, and it is not Ravi Shastri, as we all expected.

These statements certainly have added more drama to the ongoing process, as the sources from the respective committee have supported Sehwag’s dominion. They added that Sehwag has an interesting mission for 2019 World Cup, these opinions came out after the interview that was conducted on Monday.

Out of five people, Ravi Shastri, Virender Sehwag, and Tom Moody were the favorites. Despite all the assumptions, the final decision is yet in skipper Virat Kohli’s hands.

“The CAC met the five candidates available: Shastri, Sehwag, Richard Pybus, Tom Moody and Lalchand Rajput. And while everyone put in a good presentation, three men who stood out were Shastri, Sehwag, and Moody. But after much deliberation and looking at the pros and cons, the CAC believes that Sehwag is the right candidate for the job as he impressed with his vision for the 2019 World Cup. Also, Sehwag had to answer the tricky question of how he would handle the coach-captain scenario and he was clear that cricket was a game where the captain held the fort and the coach’s job was to man the backroom” said an exclusive source from CAC to the ‘Cricket Next.’

Talking about the kind of relationship between captain and the coach, as it is known, Kohli ensembles a fine bonding with Ravi Shastri, but it is now heard that Sehwag has a tricky pov in this aspect too and that ultimately impressed the interviewees.

Later, the source added:

“But then, the door isn’t closed on Shastri either. The CAC was indeed impressed by his presentation and it was then decided that Kohli should be brought into the scene and the skipper should make the call because, at the end of the day, it is the captain who will have to spend time with the coach and the equation cannot be compromised. But, what is understandable is that the CAC will not take responsibility if Kohli goes for Shastri and that will be a call taken by the skipper.”

Putting aside all the assumptions, we have to wait until the official notice comes out, as of now, the decision is deferred and is in Kohli’s hands. Indian team is now playing without a coach, and the new coach will assume his position prior to the Sri Lankan series.
