Shane Warne was one of the Australian finest bowlers in the history of cricket. He has fans all over the world and was the captain of the IPL team Rajasthan Royals. He is a widely respected cricketer but his unnecessary comments on Sachin Tendulkar led to slamming him in the social media. We all know about the ball-tampering scandal involving the star players of the Aussie cricket team.
Steve Smith, the former captain of Australia and David Warner, the vice-captain of Australia made a plan in lunch break to tamper the ball with a sandstone and involved a junior player Cameron Bancroft for doing the same as said by the team leaders. Cricket Australia laid a ban for 1 year on Steve Smith and David Warner and 9 months on Cameron Bancroft for not following the code of conduct.
This didn’t go well with many of cricketers and fans as the 1-year ban on a player is a harsh decision and this point was cleared out by many cricketers. Even Jasprit Bumrah and Harbhajan Singh extended their support to the players saying that the ban period is long.
Now Shane Warne commented on the same and everything was well and good until he passed a comment that even Sachin Tendulkar was involved in a ball-tampering scandal which didn’t go well with Indians as they worship Sachin as the god of Cricket.
Here’s what he said,
“Their (Australia) opposing captain in this series, South Africa’s Faf du Plessis, has been charged with the offense twice, and opening bowler Vernon Philander once.
The list of players who have been charged with ball tampering is long and contains some of the biggest names in the game, like Sachin Tendulkar and Mike Atherton.”
As soon as he mentioned Sachin’s name in his post, people started slamming him for taking the legend’s name in the comments of his Facebook post.
Here are some comments where Shane Warne was slammed for unnecessarily bringing Sachin into the controversy.
