Twitterati Slams Chief Selector MSK Prasad For Commenting About MS Dhoni’s Choice In Team India

After team India had created history by clinching the Test series 3-0 against Sri Lanka, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the squad for the upcoming limited-over series against Sri Lanka.

The Indian selectors rested veteran left-hand batsman Yuvraj Singh alongside with ace spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin. However, former Indian captain MS Dhoni has been included in the team.

Regarding MS Dhoni’s spot in the squad, Chairman of selectors MSK Prasad said that Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s future is being discussed at selection meetings but they will look at alternatives only if the former India captain fails to perform.

MSK Prasad’s comments that Dhoni’s no longer the automatic wicketkeeper-batsman choice has drawn flack on Twitter. Dhoni fans were clearly infuriated by Prasad’s comment and questioned Prasad’s role in the committee.

It has been so long that Dhoni as the finisher he used to be, his credentials and achievements are unprecedented including 2007 World T20 and 2011 World Cup wins. Speaking about the wicketkeeper batsman’s chances of being part of the 2019 cricket World Cup plan, Prasad had said,

“You never know. We don’t say it is an automatic thing (selection) but we will see. We are all stakeholders. We all want the Indian team to do well. If he is delivering, why not? If he is not, we will have to look at alternatives.”

The fans were so furious over MSK Prasad’s remark that they even went to ask him who is he to say that MSD is no longer an automatic choice and he should see his own cricket career before commenting on MSD’s abilities.
