Watch: Virat Kohli Takes “DRS” Without Taking MS Dhoni Advice And It’s A Vain

Indian skipper Virat Kohli was seen taking some risky and impulsive decisions as captain, regarding the Decision review System (DRS) in the Test series earlier, and he did the same in yesterday’s match. In the 1st ODI, we saw Dhoni still in the hangover of captaincy decided to signal for the DRS before Virat Kohli.

MS Dhoni has been clinical in his calls for DRS (Decision Review System) in this series. Kohli opted for a poor review in 3rd ODI against England to take a review after the delivery of Jasprit Bumrah. Kohli himself was very confident about that being a successful appeal, but Dhoni’s confidence is important especially when it comes to DRS.

KOhli’s Review Went In Vain:

The incident occurred in the 29th over of the England innings when a Jasprit Bumrah delivery went passed the outside edge of Eoin Morgan. Bumrah went up in appeal along with Dhoni and Kohli behind the stumps. Umpire Kumar Dharmasena shook his head and Kohli immediately made the ‘T’ signal to refer it to the third umpire. Interestingly, Dhoni was seen shaking his head but the damage had already been done.

Replays made it clear that there was no outside edge, Morgan survived and India lost their review. Have a look.

Naturally, Virat has immense faith in Dhoni’s appeals like he mentioned in the press conference ahead of the 1st ODI that the former skipper’s accuracy is what he relies on as he saw a stat of 95% of his appeals being correct.

The on-field decision was retained, but it was proved yet again that why calling “DRS” as the “Dhoni Review System”. Here are some fo the funny reactions from twitter.

DRS = Dhoni Review System.

The bottom line remains that if Dhoni is not confident about something, it’s better not to risk it. Virat must be doing a good job as the captain so far, but he needs Dhoni’s calmness at some times.
