Virat Kohli Gives It Back To Tabraiz Shamsi With Brutal ‘Chest Pad’ Jibe

Virat Kohli is arguably the most consistent and successful batsman across all the three formats of the game. Virat is the most successful batsman across all three formats currently playing and is also the most consistent. Over the years, he has established himself as the best player in the team.

On top of that, he is the captain of the squad and is also the holder of some of the biggest records in international cricket. He is also known as one of the aggressive players on the field and by the time now, everyone knows you neither give Kohli a second chance nor should you ever attempt to sledge him.

After the Pink ODI defeat in Johannesburg, Virat Kohli and his boys managed to lay their hands on the Momentum ODI series trophy after beating South Africa by 73 runs in the fifth ODI at the St George’s Park in Port Elizabeth on Tuesday. And it extended India’s lead to 4-1 and powered them to the top spot in ICC ODI rankings.

Shamsi vs Virat

Coming to the incident, Virat Kohli rarely gives a chance to the opposition to get him out. When it comes to sledging, we have enough proof that the verbal exchange only ends up burning his hunger to score more runs by hitting fours and sixes. During the 5th ODI, South African bowler Tabriaz Shamsi eventually learned a lesson from the Indian skipper.

Earlier, Virat was dismissed for 36 runs after a direct hit from JP Duminy found him short at the crease. During his stay, Virat and Shamsi were involved in a heated exchange. But the Delhi dasher didn’t say much at that time. However, while South Africa was chasing 274 in the second innings, Virat, who rarely forgets struck back with a brutal jibe aimed at the tail-ender.

Virat sledging Shamsi

After Klaasen’s dismissal, Shamsi came out to bat with a chest pad even as the bowler was Kuldeep Yadav, a spinner. Not the one to back down, Kohli returned the favor when Shamsi was at the crease during the South African innings. “Chest pad Shammo (Shamsi), you have a chest pad on,” Kohli chirped as the stump mic did the rest.

Whether Kohli’s jibe rattled him or not, Shamsi’s innings didn’t last more than a ball as he got out while playing a big shot at long-on. To everyone’s surprise, Shamsi has a bonding with Virat Kohli in IPL while playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore.

It was a good time watching the banter between Virat and Shamsi. How did you feel?
