We’ve seen many blunders online on social media, on websites and on personal Twitter or Facebook profiles. But this one’s the mother of all blunders. This time, it seems Wikipedia has goofed-up again.

Yesterday, team India beat their Australian counterparts by 36 runs and reached finally to fight for the World Cup with the hosts England. It is the second time the Indian Women’s team has made it to the World Cup finals, the last time being way back in 2005.

Wikipedia just declared the Indian women’s cricket team the winners of the ongoing ICC World Cup two days ahead of their final vs. England.

This blunder was spotted by people online and then many websites also lapped it up for stories. The mistake was then later corrected by Wikipedia before it could become a laughing stock on Twitter.

It was an interesting matchup against defending champions Australia.

Harmanpreet Kaur innings of 171* off 115 balls, which comprised of 7 sixes and 20 fours, meant India reach a competitive 281. India finally emerged victorious by 36 runs. India will now take on England in the finals at Lords. But Wikipedia committed a mistake by declaring India winners two days ahead of the clash.

All we can say is, better late than never. Let us hope Wikipedia’s goof-up could get true.
