Madhya Pradesh High-Court grants permission to abort the 9-week-old fetus of a gang-rape survivor

The bench of the Madhya Pradesh High-Court grants permission to abort the 9-week-old fetus of a gang-rape survivor.

Justice Virender Singh granted the petition of the 19-year-old teen who was asking to abort her 9-week-old fetus after the “unwanted pregnancy”.

Justice Virender Singh said, “The petitioner is permitted to approach District Hospital, Dewas within a period of one week for termination of pregnancy.”

The Justice added, “Let the DNA sample of the fetus be preserved (for use in the trial of the case).In the present case, pregnancy is nine weeks old.”

Dharmendra Chelawat, the lawyer of the gang rape survivor, said that his client is currently in a mental shock after going through horrific things and added that she wants to get rid of the “unwanted pregnancy”.

The woman was kidnapped and raped by 2 men in Dewas, Madhya Pradesh.

A trial court in the district of Dewas is currently hearing the case out.
