Contestant Rituraj Mohanty won the title of India’s Raw Star a singing competition television reality show. Rituraj won a Maruti Suzuki Swift, a contract with STAR Plus and a whopping Rs.50 lakh as cash prize; he defeated Darshan Raval from Ahmadabad and Mohit Gaur from Jaipur. Well from the beginning, Darshan Rawal (From Gujarat) was to be considered favorites to win and he was also favourite contestant of Judges but Odessa’s Rituraj Mohanty turned the position in grand finale. He got more votes and win this title. And Rituraj beat to Darshan Raval from Ahmedabad and Mohit Gaur from Jaipur in the grand finale.

But during the grand finale show’s shooting a bad incident has occurred. During the television reality show, in audiences a viewer hit a slap to actress Gauhar Khan. He was anger with Gauhar Khan for her short clothes and mini dresses. Police arrested him. After this incident Gauhar went in her makeup van for relax and after some time Gauhar Khan returned for shooting and also declared the India’s Raw Star reality show winner to Rituraj Mohanti.

Rituraj Mohanty Turns Winner of India’s Raw Star 2014:

Rituraj, aged 26, won millions of hearts across the country with his soulful voice. His performances like ‘Kabira’ and ‘O Re Piya’ were praised by many singers and music directors. A natural singer, his favourite genre is Sufi, and he gained popularity for coming up with his own signature style of adding some modifications and tweaks to Bollywood chartbusters.

Rituraj started learning music from the tender age of three from his father, who is a tabla player. He was attracted to Sufi music as a kid and used to practice singing songs of that genre. After finishing his studies, he decided to join Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya in the city but had to drop out due to financial difficulties.

He then began taking part in concerts and musical events organised in nearby towns. The turning point of his life came in 2011, when he left for Mumbai to pursue a career in music.

“India’s Raw Star”, which went on air on 24 August, has been produced by Gajendra Singh under the banner of Saaibaba Telefilms. “Bigg Boss 7” winner Gauahar Khan hosted the show. Initially, singer-rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh was the mentor for the performers, but Himesh Reshammiya replaced him after he left it mid-way due to his injury. Immediately after Rituraj’s name was announced as the winner of the show, many viewers took to their Twitter page nad congratulated him.
