Here’s How Virender Sehwag’s Tweet Brought Bad Luck To AB de Villiers’ ODI-Double Hundred

By the way, something is very clear now, India’s one of the best batsmen, veteran hitman Virender Sehwag took on to his second innings on Twitter. Since the beginning, Sehwag has been spreading some unbeatable humor across the social media. His wit and humor is something that everyone loves and make them go crazy.

Other than this, he took up cricket commentary and started sharing his funny, witty, sarcastic views. From giving us a dose of laughter to taking a stand on a political issue, Virender Sehwag has done it all. The destructive batsman and the current wittiest person on Twitter are once again in the news and this time, it is not because he trolled someone or made fun of anyone.

Viru is one of the most intelligent readers of the game but he prefers to share his views in a way that can make his followers laugh. This time, his expectation or calculation went wrong on South African ace batsman AB de Villiers.

In the second ODI between South Africa and Bangladesh, de Villiers was blasting Bangladeshi bowlers all around the stadium at his robust best. The middle-order batsman shattered 15 boundaries and seven sixes to bring up his 25th ton in the 50-over format.

AB de Villiers scored a brilliant hundred and also registered his highest ever score in One Day International (ODI) cricket, in his comeback match. Last 18 months have not been that great for ABD as he has suffered many injuries and this has kept him away from the game. He also went past his previous highest score of unbeaten 162* against West Indies in the year 2015.

ABD looked as if he would break the 21-year old record of the highest individual score by a South African in ODIs. Gary Kirsten is at the top, courtesy his 188* not out against UAE in the 1996 World Cup.

Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag was impressed by the big hitting and he tweeted “Wow ! what smashing by AB De Villiers. Should become the first middle -order batsman to score an ODI-double.”

But as it happened, the Proteas hitter got out soon after, leaving Sehwag in disbelief. The in-form batsman ended up 12 runs short of Kirsten’s score, as he was held at deep midwicket in the 48th over. In his innings of 176, de Villiers hit 15 boundaries and seven sixes.

As soon as de Villiers wicket fell and fans started tweeting that the Sultan of Multan jinxed it. Viru, in his trademark style, apologized to AB de Villiers and wrote, “Sorry ABdeVilliers17, Nazar lag gayi. But always a delight to watch you smash bowlers. Incredible hitting!”

In the process, AB brought up the fifth-highest score by a South African in ODI cricket. Interestingly, de Villiers has eight out of the top 10 fastest hundreds by a Proteas batsman in ODIs; tells you how good he has been over the years and the manner in which an individual can dominate a team sport.
