A couple from Canada was shocked when they were preparing dinner after they discovered a live frog inside one of the bell peppers they were peeling it.
Despite having a close call with the kitchen knife, the frog was completely unharmed.
After the frog was found inside, the couple placed him and the pepper inside a container.
The couple and the authorities in Canada have no idea on how the tiny frog managed to get inside the whole green pepper.
It was the creature that knew how it got inside the pepper.
After the discovery, the couple handed the food and the frog over to the Québec Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food (MAPAQ).
Unfortunately, the Québec Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food (MAPAQ) killed the frog.
The couple said they bought the green pepper at a local supermarket.
The frog that was inside the green pepper was later identified as a green tree frog, and authorities believe it’s from Honduras.
Nicole Gagnon and Gerard Blackburn, residents of the city of Saguenay in the province of Quebec, said they did not see any visible holes inside the pepper.
During an interview with Radio Canada, the couple said: “It’s like the secret of Caramilk [reference for the kids, there], how the frog ended up in the pepper, I don’t know!”
Blackburn added, “They cannot see it. A pepper is closed. You can’t see if there is a frog in there or not.”
The authorities in Canada said they receive around 20 cases like this each year, but usually, the foods that they receive have insects or spiders.
Yohan Dallaire-Boily, the spokesperson of the Québec Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food (MAPAQ) said, “The analysis was carried out by euthanizing the frog to carry out the laboratory expertise.”
Yohan added, “If we analyze it, it’s for food security, to make sure everything is healthy for the people who have consumed it or not.”
Well, it will forever remain a mystery on how the frog managed to get inside the green pepper.
As of now, it was nice knowing your story mister frog.
