Whatsapp, the leading instant messaging client for smartphone users with 160 million users in India and is available in more than 50 different languages around the world and in 10 Indian languages. These days WhatsApp has turned into a verb with people now saying, “Just Whatsapp it” like Google is today. We send and receive lots of messages from friends, family members etc.

But what if you accidentally sent someone else’s Whatsapp message to someone else? Did you face the same problem at some or the other time? Relax, as you may be able to revoke such messages in the near future.

Yes, according to the WABetaInfo account on Twitter, the instant messaging app WhatsApp has reportedly added the features to revoke and edit the sent messages in a beta version testing.

“WhatsApp has added in beta the possibility to edit messages that you already sent. It is actually disabled by default and it’s under development,” the WABetaInfo’s tweet read.

According to the WABetaInfo, the feature is currently available in WhatsApp Beta for the iOS 2.17.1.869 platform. However, there’s no word on when will Whatsapp roll out the feature globally or whether it will roll it out at all.

Moreover, the Twitter posts say that the new service will let users recall messages as well as once recalled, edit them and then resend them. But then, will there be a time limit during which the messages can be recalled? No, apparently not.

Also, if the receiver reads the messages and gets that dreaded double blue tick, the message can still be recalled. However, it will go as an edited version or will be deleted from the receiver’s device, is still unknown. This feature will be not only for the individual users but also for group messages where the messages can be recalled. Once a feature comes to Beta mode, Whatsapp generally takes the time to announce the feature and roll it out globally. However, the users will be able to edit only recent messages and not the old ones.

Recently, WhatsApp added Video calling feature from India which was rolled out globally to other countries.
