Bollywood actor Sunny Deol wins in Gurdaspur against Sunil Kumar Jakhar by 82,000 votes
62-year-old Bollywood actor, Sunny Deol, has won in Gurdaspur by 70,000 votes.
The actor joined the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party), Sunny Deol said he was inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He joined the party in New Delhi on 23 April.
Sunny Deol contested in Gurdaspur, which is located in Punjab, it is also the constituency where Vinod Khanna, a former BJP member, ruled in.
During his electoral campaigns, Sunny Deol said, “Like my father joined Atal Bihari Vajpayee, I have decided to go with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I want PM Modi for the next five years”.
Sunny Deol is the third person in their family that has decided to join politics and is also the third person from their family that has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Dharmendra, the father of Sunny Deol, contested in the 2004 lok sabha elections in Bikaner, Rajasthan.
Hema Malini, the step-mother of Sunny Deol, is also in the BJP and is up for re-election in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh.
