4 Punjabi Children Charred To Death In Van
The transport department of Punjab announced that they will be launching a statewide drive to check all the school buses after 4 children were charred to death in a van.
On Saturday last week, 4 children were charred to death when a ramshackle van of a private school that was transporting students to their home when it caught fire.
The incident happened in the Sangrur district of Punjab.
According to reports, the accident happened on the Longowal-Sidsaachar road in Sangrur.
8 children were rescued from the burning van by people that were working in nearby fields.
As per the inspections, the transport department found a number of violations in school busses and issued a number of tickets.
The Transport Department of Jalandhar said, “We have issued challans to 20 vehicles and also impounded five four-wheelers in this drive so far.”
The transport department is now making sure that all the busses have fire extinguishers, first aid boxes, and other safety measures.
The police and transport department also inspected the 3 wheelers that parents were using to transport their kids to schools.
The police said, “Our effort is to ensure a vehicle plying on road should adhere to safety norms.”
Amarinder Singh, the Chief Minister of Punjab, has ordered an official magisterial probe into the incident.
Chief Minister Singh also ordered the state transport department to launch a statewide drive to check the roads and the overall safety of school buses.
