Blind 53-Year-Old Bank Manager Raped Inside Her House During Strict Lockdown In India
Bhopal, India: A 53-year-old manager of a government-run bank was raped inside her flat by an unidentified man during strict lockdown measures of the country.
According to reports the incident happened in the Shahpura area of Bhopal on April 17, 2020.
The incident has raised serious questions about the security of women in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, considering that the government has implemented strict lockdown measures.
Inspector Chandra Bhan Patel of Shahpura police station said the woman, who is visually challenged, had been living alone in the flat for the last couple of days as her husband was stuck in his hometown.
Due to the coronavirus lockdown in India, the husband of the woman is stuck in Sirohi District of Rajasthan.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the rapist used the stairs to get to the second floor of the flat and entered the woman’s flat through the open doors of her balcony.
Sanjay Sahu, a police officer that is investigating the case, said that the police have registered a case and an investigation has been launched.
