Kangra Man Sells Cow To Buy Smartphone For Daughter So She Could Attend Online Classes During Pandemic
Kangra, India: An Indian man is making headlines all over social media after he reportedly sold his precious cow to buy a smartphone for his daughter so she could attend her online classes during this coronavirus pandemic.
The incident reportedly happened in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh.
Kuldip Kumar, the good father, wanted to make sure that his daughter has access to education despite the ongoing pandemic.
Kumar wanted to buy a smartphone for his daughter’s online classes, but he had no money for it.
He reportedly borrowed money from a known man, but he had no money to repay it.
After getting constant pressure from his friend to repay the loan, he decided to sell his cow.
The state administration swung into action after his story went viral on social media.
The government offered his cow back, but he refused.
The man said he rather have his house repaired under a central scheme and get listed in the official list of Below Poverty Line Family.
Jagdish Sharma, a senior revenue officer, released a statement about the incident after he visited the family.
He said:
Kuldip Kumar wanted to buy a smart phone for his daughter’s online classes and around 3-4 months ago, he borrowed money to buy the smart phone. When the lenders wanted the money back, he sold one of his cows. When the district administration wanted to help him, he told them that he no longer requires a cow but wants that his house to be renovated. The administration has assured him that he will be helped according to norms under the BPL category.
