New GST Structure: Zero Tax on Sanitary Napkins, Rates of TV, Washing Machine Reduced to 18%

The news came up from the center of the nation. Union Finance Minister named Piyush Goyal today declared new GST Structure. All the decisions regarding the revised GST will become in force from June 27.

 

 

What is there in new GST Structure?

Piyush Goyal today declared some new amendments in previous GST structure. Sources stated that changes would affect reduce in some commodities.

Such commodities are TV, Fridge, Washing Machine, Electric Products, Perfumes along with some of Handicrafts items. Committee on amendments of GST disclosed new rates and commodities that will be affected by new rates amendments.

Impact of this amendments gives much relief to all the consumers, small traders and many other. It is the best to move just before the festive season. The move which was taken by Piyush Goyal helps small trader’s to increase their revenues.

Apart from this, the council on GST decided to strike off sanitary napkin from GST. Before this sanitary napkin was charged 12% in GST. Due to the previous rate of 12% on wholesome napkin consumer and women’s groups protest against this. Protest pressurized Indian Government to struck off sanitary napkin from GST.

 

 

In this session government also focus on such items that will be placed in the highest Tax slab. Most upper tax slab under GST was 28%.

Statement of Piyush Goyal

Piyush Goyal who is the Union Finance Minister of India stated that Handicrafts items like stones, fancy marbles, including Rakhis are struck off from GST. Along with this fortified milk is also be removed from the list of GST.

All the handloom items that are below Rs 1000 will now be charged in the tax slab of 5%. Leather items will now be charged in the tax slab of 18%. Apart from this footwear that is below Rs 1000 is also charged at 5%.

Some commodities like jewelry boxes, glass art ware, wooden photo frames which was previously charged at 12% will now be charged at 5% after the amendments in GST.

 

 

Daily essentials like grinders, mixers, hair dryer, water cooler, ice cream freezer, cosmetic Products will now be charged at 18%. Before amendments, these items were in tax slab of 28%.
