Man Wakes Up From Medically Induced Coma To Find Out Wife And Mom Had Been Killed By The Virus

A man in Scotland who was placed in a coma after the coronavirus came out to find that his family has been killed by the disease.

Scott Miller, who is from Edinburgh, shared a flat with his 76-year-old mother Norma and 69-year-old partner.

Norma has dementia.

On March 21, 2020, Norma had a fall and Scott could not help her up.

She was taken by ambulance to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, where she tested positive for the coronavirus.

By the end of the week, Scott was placed in the hospital and was fighting for his life.

After his condition deteriorated, Scott was placed in a medically-induced coma by the authorities.

Sharlene Miller, the sister-in-law of Scott, said:

Norma was in Ward 220 in the Royal Infirmary and Scott was in ICU. On the Sunday morning we got a call to say Norma had passed away, and we got a call from the consultant to say that Scott was very ill as well. Then Norma’s partner passed away the following Sunday.

The condition got worse, said the doctors.

It is said that Scott had had pneumonia, blood clots, and his kidneys were beginning to fail.

The family of Scott believed that they would lose him too.

Sharlene added:

In the week between Norma’s funeral and her partner’s funeral, each day Scott seemed to deteriorate and they were running out of options. We were at the point where we were maybe going to have to make a decision about turning off his life support.

Scott managed to survive and ended up spending 3 weeks in the ICU.

He had no idea that his mother and partner had been killed by the deadly disease.

A nurse broke the sad news to him.

Scott said:

When I came round, I just had a gut feeling that something had happened to mum and when the nurse told me it was just disbelief and shock. It was very hard.

Scott said that he needs to understand that the virus is a real killer.

He added:

People need to understand it’s a real killer, I don’t think people are really taking it seriously. People need to know we’re not out of it yet. They need to know, just be safe and secure and watch out.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Scott, may his soul rest in peace.
