On Wednesday, India’s national cricket team showcased an all-around performance over their victory against New Zealand in the first ODI (One Day International) in Napier.

Mohammed Shami showcased that he can be lethal when it comes to bowling, he got rid of Colin Munro and Martin Guptill. Shami was named Man of the Match after he picked the wicket of Mitchel Satner, he sealed the deal and got the reward.

During the post-match interview, Kohli praised how good his team was, especially the fast bowling unit. He also said that they are capable of defeating any team out of the tournament.

India had to chase the 157 runs made by New Zealand, they, later on, chased the target and won with 8 wickets left.

Virat Kohli believes that this has been the most balanced performance from his team, and he is not asking for more.

He said” “It was one of our most balanced performances. With the ball, couldn’t have asked for anything better. When I lost the toss, I thought a score of about 300 par but the bowlers were brilliant. To get them out for 150-odd on this pitch was brilliant” he added: “Belief in his (Shami) abilities is key and as he said, the fast bowling unit is extremely confident of knocking any team out.”

On Saturday, India will face New Zealand for the second ODI in Mount Maunganui at the Bay Oval. India has got the 1 win lead on the series.

On February 6th of 2019, New Zealand is set to host India for a T20I series (Twenty20 International) in Wellington. This will happened after the ODI series.
