Biopics are all that echoes the craze of Bollywood’s new age cinema. Starting with Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Bhaag Milka Bhaag’ and Priyanka Chopra’s ‘Mary Kom’, actors left no stone unturned in commercializing the stories of the prominent people.
Now time and again after the success of Sushant Singh Rajput starred venture MS Dhoni, another biopic is all set to be launched and this time it takes us back in time. The movie is based on India’s first World Cup journey ‘1983 World Cup’. Makers are all set to rope in some prominent actors to get an esteemed output.
It is filmmaker Kabir Khan who is indeed fascinated by the vintage odyssey of Kapil Dev led Team India. It is heard that the actor Arjun Kapoor has emerged as a strong contender to play the role of team captain.
Sources claim that the assumed title of the film is ‘World Cup 1983’, and will be written by National Award-winning director Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan. It’ll be co-produced by Phantom Films and the founder and managing director of the Celebrity Cricket League (CCL), Vishnu Vardhan Induri.
The official details will be disclosed on September 27. “A mammoth event is being planned to announce the film on September 27. The makers hope that the Indian players who brought the cup home will grace the occasion,” according to a source.
Meanwhile, India’s team manager during the 1983 World Cup PR Man Singh who is also the former secretary of the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) might be at the event along with the 14 members of the World Cup-winning team.
Excluding Arjun Kapoor, versatile actors like Ranveer Singh and Hrithik Roshan’s are also rumored to be part of this movie. However, we have to wait till the 27th of this month, for the valid news.
