Padmavati has been facing constant opposition in the form of violence and threats from members of Rajput Karni Sena ever since they disrupted the shoot of the film in Jaipur earlier this year. Most of the film industry’s actors and filmmakers have chosen to not comment about the protests and ridiculous demand to ban the film.
It was a happy news for the team of Padmavati as the movie has been passed by CBFC with U/A certificate. It means that the flick can be watched by all age groups but children under the age of 12 can watch it under the parental guidance only. However, there are a few changes to the title and it will be released as ‘Padmavat’.
Apart from the name change, the censor board has also told the makers to make 26 cuts and disclaimers will be shown before the start of the film and after the interval too. This states that the movie is a work of fiction and has no connection with any historical figure. The movie was also shown to historians from Jaipur by the CBFC before passing it.
It looks like the controversial period drama film Padmavati is finally set to hit the screens on January 25, the same day as Akshay Kumar’s Padman set to release. An official announcement from the makers is expected soon.
On Jan 25th, 2017, we saw a big clash between Raees and Kaabil at Bow Office and we all know how intense it got with time. And in this year, on the same day, Padman and Padmavat are clashing. Padman had already booked the date for its release, whereas Padmavat also announced the date after going through a lot of troubles.
Both the films are among the most anticipated films this year. Some trade experts feel that Padman may be on the losing end as Padmavat is a bigger film and has got a lot of publicity recently. When Akshay Kumar was asked about the same, he reacted in a cool and composed manner and didn’t show any sign of worry.
He said that the clash will not impact the business of Padman because the release date has the potential to give benefit to two films. He said, “It is not about competition, it is a very big day, a big week, so all the films can come. Both the films can release on that day.”
Akshay also clarified that there are no issues between the makers of Padman and Padmavat even though the plan of releasing Padmavat on 25th Jan was the last minute decision. He added, “Every film has the right to release whenever they (makers) want, and I am happy for them.” What are your thoughts on it? Do you think Akshay’s optimism will work here?
Along with Deepika Padukone who plays Rani Padmini in the movie, Shahid Kapoor, and Ranveer Singh also play lead roles as Maharawal Ratan Singh and Alauddin Khilji. Padmavat has been mounted on a Rs 190-crore budget.
Produced by KriArj Entertainment, Mrs. Funnybones Movies, Hope Productions and Columbia Pictures ‘Pad Man’ stars Akshay Kumar, Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor. Directed by R. Balki, it is a biopic on Arunachalam Muruganantha, who created a revolution in the field of affordable menstrual hygiene.
