In times when everybody talks about flaunting your curves and showing the real you to the world, Rochelle Rao has given a befitting reply to body-shamers who tried to troll her for putting on weight recently. She urged people to be proud of their imperfections and not get bogged down by such comments.
Through her Instagram account, Rochelle asked people to love themselves. She said the beauty is not in the face but a light in the heart.
Rochelle Rao also mentioned how after putting on some weight, trolls and haters started body shaming her. Making some valid points and posted a photo-series where she explained why it’s wrong to always run behind the concept of perfection.
According to Dove Global Beauty and Confidence Report, one in two women feels social media puts pressure on them to look a certain way. However, many women are now fighting to spread beauty confidence. “They are using their influence to advance the real beauty debate across social media, and helping women embrace their own individuality as a source of confidence,” the report said.
In emotional posts that accompanied the pictures on her official Instagram account, Rochelle celebrated the beauty of all women, regardless of age, ethnicity, dress measurements or looks.
Acknowledging that body shaming has become a phenomenon in recent days where it is right for anyone to comment on another person’s body, she said she chose to highlight her imperfections which she thought to hate.
She also spoke about society’s close-mindedness when it comes to standards that women are expected to maintain in order to be seen as attractive. Since she put up the post, women of all walks of life have come to appreciate and show solidarity with Rochelle’s uncompromising attitude.
