IMDb Ranks The Top 25 Movies Of The Last 25 Years – Two Batman Movies Among Them!

The Internet Movie Database is now celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, as on 17th October. To mark the 25th anniversary, they compiled a list of its user’s favourite movies from every year of the IMDb’s existence, from 1990 onward. The IMDb offers a rating scale that allows users to rate films on a scale of one to ten. The IMDb version of Crash is The Shawshank Redemption, which has topped the Top 250 chart, as voted by IMDb Users by rating of 9.3 out of 10 and Leonardo DiCaprio films factoring heavily into the voting.

The top 25 movies list of the past 25 years was first published  on Vanity Fair by Katey Rich, points out, the results show a pronounced proclivity for the works of Christopher Nolan, whose films took top honors a whopping five times, and Leonardo DiCaprio, who stars in four of them.

More than 1.5 million IMDb users have cast their votes in favor of the film. Given the historical makeup of said culture, it’s not surprising that of the 25 year-end favourites, nearly everyone was directed by a white male (“The Intouchables’” co-director Éric Toledano has North African heritage), and only two are in a language other than English.

The results are actually a little surprising in places, with Sean Penn’s stark drama Into the Wild topping 2007 over There Will Be Blood or No Country for Old Men, and the French sensation Intouchables ruiling 2011. Take a look at the best films of the last 25 years as determined by IMDb voters below:
